LEWIS NOSTALGIA
- FABRIC LABELS
As is well documented, a huge amount of these
labels were discovered in bonded warehouses in Manchester around the early
1980s when the textile industry was in decline. The buildings were
being closed down or demolished.
A large variety of images were originally
produced. Some of these survived in their hundreds and others in single
figures. These labels dated from the Edwardian era right through to
the 1950s. If they had been used, they would have been stuck to bales
of cloth as identification for export purposes.
